Now with Mega Force seeping out into the background of the land of Apple Pie and Mom (America), I just thought I'd write about its Japanese equivalent and one of the things I particularly love about them toys.
Even if you don't have any Goseiger stuff but would like to, you can get some of what I'm talking about here pretty cheaply as 1) it was also transported to South Korea as 'Miracle Force' (with much lower prices), and 2) there were cheaper Gashapon versions of lots of the Headers that you can still buy on eBay - meaning you don't need to shell out the full amount for a DX bit of kit.
One of the nicest discoveries I had with the mecha merch for this series, was that the tiny pegs inside the back of each of the Headers was actually there for a reason! And a very good, ingenious, hyper-playability reason at that!
To clarify which pegs relate to what . . . here's a chart:
So as you can see, having just a left peg means the Header is related to the Skyick Tribe (Red and Pink), having just the right means it is from the Landick Tribe (Black and Yellow) and having both pegs present means that the Header is from the Seaick Tribe (Blue).
Here's a picture of the Headers from real life:
When I discovered what these pegs were for, I bought the Gosei Blaster - so as I did, as then my Headers could come to life!
I'm not sure if they have any effect on the Leon Lazer or Tensword but with the Gosei Blaster, attaching a specific Tribe's Header will result in a related activation noise - then a specific blasting sound upon pulling the trigger.
It's a bit similar to the Abaranger/Dino Thunder morphers, where the 3 initial plates (Red, Blue and Yellow) used combinations of 2 pegs to activate the related sounds. It's such a cool idea as it immerses you in the world of the show, as if the weapons/mecha are magically recognising and interacting with each other.
Japanese/Korean Release!
Having seen the American release of the Blaster that's just come out . . . . it's not good. That's my opinion, anyway. I know a lot of people like the US versions, but for me the removal of the Tribe recognition system and its replacement with just a cycle of sounds and an ejecting Header feature is a step down.
So, that's my two pence/cents. If you can, I say pay a little bit more and get the Gosei Blaster from across the water. x
